Bahrain's third 'Sea Festival' kicks off

MANAMA, October 28, 2018

The third edition of Bahrain's ‘Sea Festival’ opened on October 25th near the Bahrain Financial Harbour.

The event was inaugurated by the chief executive officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, and was attended by the president of the Arab Tourism Organization, Dr Bandar bin Fahd Al-Fuhaid; the undersecretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, as well as representatives from BTEA, tourism sector and the media.

Since its conception, the festival has aimed to showcase the Kingdom’s rich link to the sea tying it to several Bahraini sea related traditions and cultural activities by using the latest technologies, in addition to showcasing the related initiatives launched by BTEA to energise the tourism sector in Bahrain.

“We appreciate the efforts made by BTEA to organise events that help in preserving and safeguarding Bahrain’s history and link to the sea, while implementing the latest technologies and introducing more exciting initiatives year after year to enhance the tourism industry,” said Dr Al-Fuhaid.

Shaikh Khaled commented: “The festival has become one the most anticipated events on the kingdom’s calendar. Much like the rest of BTEA’s events, it aims to position Bahrain as a leading family destination and double the tourism sector’s contribution to the National GDP.”
