Capital Club Bahrain has introduced biodegradable cutlery and edible straws as part of its efforts to improve sustainability practices.

The disposable cutleries are made from cornstarch, which is eco-friendly as it is 100 per cent biodegradable, while its lime-flavoured edible straws, which are gluten-free, are crafted from sugar and cornstarch and can last for up to 30 minutes in a liquid.

The new initiative is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and hopes to create a sustainable working and dining environment.

Capital Club general manager Sumeet Jhingan said that it is important for the business to be an "educational entity by promoting the use of sustainable cutlery throughout the venue, such as edible straws and starch disposable spoons that won’t harm the environment after being thrown away". - TradeArabia News Service
