Meliá plans new hotel openings across MEA
DUBAI, October 3, 2018
Spanish hospitality chain Meliá Hotels International has over 50 new hotel openings in the pipeline up to 2020, including five properties planned across the Middle East and Africa (MEA).
As Europe’s third largest and Spain’s leading hotel company, the Group is continuing to invest in markets, such as Spain, through the strengthening and regeneration of current properties alongside new openings, whilst expanding into emerging markets including APAC and Africa.
Middle East
ME Dubai, Dubai (2020)
Situated in the striking Opus building, ME Dubai will be located at the heart of the up-and-coming Burj Khalifa district. Designed by the late Zaha Hadid, the hotel will become an architectural icon in the Dubai skyline. ME Dubai was Zaha Hadid’s first project in which she designed all of the interiors and exteriors to showcase her vision of interconnectedness. The hotel will boast 132 guest rooms and suites (93 rooms and suites) and 39 serviced apartments, exclusive international F&B outlets including award-winning Japanese restaurant Roka, serviced apartments, Radio Rooftop bar and a state-of-the-art wellness centre.
ME Doha, Qatar (2020)
ME Doha will be the first property for the group in Qatar’s capital. The new, five-star hotel will have 235 rooms, Mice facilities, a fitness centre and spa. The property will also feature an infinity pool, overlooking the impressive Doha skyline. There will also be three restaurants, a nightclub, an open-air cinema and three bars within the property. ME Doha will be part of a spectacular project titled “Dohalive”, which will incorporate the hotel, shopping facilities, cinema complex and open-air leisure facilities.
Innside Doha, Qatar (2020)
Innside Doha will be in a prime area, next to the new Qatar National Museum, newly opened Doha Metro station, government and commercial offices, with views of the West Bay skyline and within easy access to Doha's Hamad International Airport. The hotel will have 192 rooms, including 36 suites, two restaurants, a lobby lounge, Business Centre, Fitness Suite with a spa and rooftop terrace with a pool deck. Meliá Saidia Residences, Morocco (1H 2019)
Morocco benefits from mild temperatures throughout the year, making it the perfect year-round tourist destination. Located on one of Morocco’s longest beaches, Saidia is known as the “Blue Pearl”, due to its natural beauty, and also offers visitors an exciting range of water sports.
Meliá Saidia Residences is the third property for the group in the area. The hotel is located near the picturesque Saidia Marina, benefiting from the city’s historical and cultural attractions, whilst Morocco’s capital, Fez, is just a few hours away. Sol Marrakesh, Morocco (1H 2019)
Located in the oasis of Palmaraie, Sol Marrakesh will be the perfect resort for families looking for an action-packed holiday in the sunshine. The hotel will feature four tennis courts, volleyball court, football pitch, driving range, kid’s club, nightclub, theatre and two bars, as well as a spectacular swimming pool, complete with a sundeck. Sol Marrakesh will enjoy a privileged location, just 18km from the airport and only 9km from the bustling centre of Marrakesh.
