New San Marino event to showcase Medieval history
SAN MARINO, July 11, 2018
The Republic of San Marino, a mountainous microstate surrounded by north-central Italy, is gearing up to receive an influx of visitors this summer when it launches its new tourism event later this month.
Timeline- 'San Marino Story' is an evolution of the traditional Medieval Days and will take place on July 27, 28 and 29, in the streets of San Marino city centre from 5pm to at least midnight.
New, unique and entertaining, Timeline is the result of the close collaboration between public and private bodies, that is between the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Board of San Marino on the one side, and Cinephil Srl on the other side.
For the first time, visitors will be able to go back in time and relive the most important moments in the history of San Marino, through six historical eras, witnessing the actual places where those events unfolded.
The Middle Ages, but also the Roman times, the Renaissance, the Risorgimento era, as well as WWI and WWII will be staged in an original format with a strong link to the actual historical events.
Visitors will have a chance to dive into the past: the history of the oldest Republic in the world will be told following a timeline running along the perimeter of the city walls, featuring re-enactment, shows, performances and exhibitions by local and foreign performers and artists.
A total of 65 shows will be held every day, engaging 580 artists.
Tickets will be available for presale on a dedicated website (www.timeline.sm) and at the ticket offices at the entrances of the city centre on the days of the event, starting from 4pm, one hour before the beginning of shows.
Visitors who buy tickets in advance will be entitled to a 50 per cent discount on cable car round-trip tickets and to free parking in the city centre on a first come, first served basis. With their Timeline ticket, visitors can get discounted passes for all the State Museums in San Marino and in the shops showing the event logo.
"I am really satisfied with the cooperation between public and private bodies that made this all possible. I am also pleased with all the local trade associations that supported this idea from the very beginning and collaborated with us," said the Minister of Tourism, Augusto Michelotti, during a press conference. - TradeArabia News Service
