Salalah airport announces emergency 24hr shut down
SALALAH, May 24, 2018
Following the announcement of an approaching tropical cyclone, Oman's Salalah Airport has announced that the facility will be closed to air traffic from midnight tonight (12:00 am on May 25) for at least 24 hours, a report said.
Cyclone Mekunu is approaching Oman's southern coasts, said a report in The Times of Oman citing a statement from the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (Paca).
Depending on weather conditions, the closure could extend further, Paca said.
The Paca added that it is coordinating with other international airlines in the Omani airspace, the report said.
