Bahrain participates in UNWTO General Assembly

MANAMA, September 13, 2017

A delegation from Bahrain, headed by the chief executive officer of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa, recently participated in the ongoing 22nd World Tourism Organization General Assembly held in China.

During the assembly, a variety of topics were discussed within the agenda of the 22nd session of the UNWTO General Assembly. Topics discussed included the objectives of sustainable development, a dedicated session on smart tourism, as well as the commemoration of the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development 2017, the prospects of turning the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics into an international convention, as well as current trends in the sector.

“We are pleased to participate in the 22nd World Tourism Organisation General Assembly, which aims to achieve the long term vision of the kingdom's tourism sector under the guidance of the wise leadership. We also look forward to participating in the next UNWTO General Assembly,” said Shaikh Khaled.

The World Tourism Organization, in its 22nd General Assembly, continues to monitor the initiatives and operations undertaken by the organisation in collaboration with its partners worldwide to work towards achieving sustainable development, promoting sustainable tourism, as well as identifying actions of the organization for the period 2018-2019. - TradeArabia News Service
