Over 570,000 passengers travel to and from Dubai during Eid

DUBAI, September 10, 2017

Dubai witnessed over 570,000 travellers passing through Dubai International Airports, land and seaports during the Eid holidays, said a report citing figures announced by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai

A total of 570,670 passengers were recorded using various entry/exit ports in the emirate during the festive holiday season, said a report in Gulf News.

Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, director-general of GDRFA-Dubai, said that more people registered on the “UAE Smart Wallet” application, which was launched recently at Dubai International Airport to benefit quick exit and entry to the city.

According to GDRFA, 1,784 people used the application during Eid to pass through the smart gates.

Al Merri pointed out that the number of smart gate users reached 60,777 during the same period.

GDRFA's target is to reduce waiting time for passengers while passing through the immigration counters and to complete all passenger procedures within 15 seconds per passenger, the report said.
