Dubai's Emirates airline has dismissed reports of a possible merger with UAE national carrier Etihad Airways, said a Wam news agency report.

The rebuttal comes after media reports claimed that the two Gulf carriers were in talks for a super-sized airline.

"There is no truth to the report Emirates and Etihad are considering a merger or have been in talks for the same," an Emirates Airline spokesperson said in a statement.
