Amwaj Rotana wins key ISO certification for second year
DUBAI, February 2, 2017
Amwaj Rotana, a leading hotel located along the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) stretch of Dubai, UAE, said it has received the ISO 14001 certification for the second consecutive year.
The certification came its way after passing more than 65 external audits to complete this integral part of its corporate social responsibility plan. Currently, the hotel is also in its transitional phase and is working on also achieving the OHSAS 18001 certification in Q2 this year, said a statement from leading hospitality group Rotana.
The hotel embarked on the certification in order to reduce the impact of its operation on the environment. Primarily, the key benefits it was hoping to gain by embarking on the initiative was to reassure guests and partners that they are dealing with a company which is environmentally sensitive and also to actively manage environmental hazards for its team of employees and the community around, it stated.
On the achievement, Mark Deere, the general manager of Amwaj Rotana, said: "The ISO 14001 certification offers a very clear set of guidelines within which the hotel should operate and we are proud to have managed to maintain these standards year on year."
Deere pointed out that the hotel needed to meet various requirements of different stakeholders, namely regulatory authorities, guests and owners and the ISO certification was so comprehensive that it is recognized by all groups of stakeholders.
By developing best practices in almost every aspect of running its business, the hotel was able to build compliance towards the programme and subsequently attain the certification, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
