Dubai Culture, ArtintheCity launch 24th edition of ArtMap
DUBAI, November 22, 2016
Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the emirate's dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has partnered with ArtintheCity for the 24th edition launch of ArtMap.
This year’s comprehensive cultural and artistic guide was unveiled at Alserkal Avenue on November 13, and will also be unveiled at both Abu Dhabi Art fair and DIFC Art Night on November 23. ArtMap will have a distinct focus on performing arts, with special curated guide that features on Al Quoz’s flourishing development as Dubai’s culture and arts hub.
Published twice a year, ArtMap provides information and a rich calendar of cultural and artistic events and exhibitions in the UAE - combining detailed schedules with useful at-a-glance maps that provide detail on the landscape of UAE locations hosting creative events. Each edition of ArtMap includes a comprehensive guide to the location of cultural and artistic organisations, and features editorial content which focuses upon the main arts agenda events for the coming months ¬— sourced from the opinions and commentary of the local art communities.
Moza Suwaidan, director of Projects & Events at Dubai Culture & Arts Authority said: “Dubai Culture’s adoption of the 24th edition of ArtMap stems from its mandate to position Dubai as a global hub for creativity, and is rooted in the authority’s aim to further establish the Emirate’s credentials as a regional capital of art and culture. Furthermore, ArtMap acts as a catalyst for the creative expressions of the city’s community whilst enhancing the lives of Dubai residents, in order to achieve the vision of a city of happy, creative and empowered individuals.
The new cover for the coming edition of ArtMap will feature Egyptian artist Sherin Guirguis, resident artist of Dubai-based art gallery The Third Line, whose work is focused upon expressing formal and social concerns, through juxtaposing Western minimalist aesthetics with Middle Eastern ornamentation.
ArtintheCity is an umbrella project that encompasses a number of programmes including printed listings, a user-friendly website and an ArtBus initiative - which together enhance both local and international audience understanding of the UAE’s culture and arts scene.
Dubai Culture is committed to enriching Dubai’s cultural scene based on the Emirate’s Arabic heritage. The organisation builds bridges of intercultural dialogue that has a beneficial effect on the city’s entire population. - TradeArabia News Service
