Flydubai issues advisory ahead of busy holiday season

Dubai-based flydubai has advised its passengers to arrive at the airport on time to avoid the last minute rush as tens of thousands of people make their way home, or go on holiday, ahead of one of the busiest weekends for travel this year.
Flydubai, which operates from Terminal 2 (DXB) together with its new operations from Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC), is expecting a surge in numbers of passengers between December 17 and December 19.
More than 12,000 passengers a day are expected to travel with flydubai this weekend to destinations like Amman, Beirut, Jeddah, Muscat and Sri Lanka.
The airline has reminded its passengers as they plan their trips to allow for plenty of time to travel to the airports and to aim to be at the terminal at least three hours before their scheduled flight time.
Passengers have been advised to check which airport and terminal they are departing from before leaving home.
The check-in for any flydubai flight will close 60 minutes before departure. The carrier will not accept passengers who attempt to check-in later than the specified timing.
The passengers have the option to check-in online for most of flydubai’s destinations, but are required to drop off their checked baggage 60 minutes before the flight departure time.
The passengers who have an e-boarding pass and are travelling with hand baggage only, can proceed directly to passport control and security clearance. They can also use the self-service check-in kiosks in the departures hall.
Meanwhile, passengers have been encouraged to pack smartly and be aware of how much baggage they can take on board to avoid delays and check-in as part of their business class and economy class allowances.
All liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) in the check-in and hand baggage should be in a clear re-sealable plastic bag.
For safety reasons, flydubai will not allow passengers to take items powered by lithium batteries such as hoverboards, mini segways, balance wheels and solowheels on board any of its flights, said the statement.
This applies to hand baggage and checked baggage. For more information about restrictions on the carriage of lithium batteries and other dangerous goods, passengers are advised to read the carrier’s baggage policy available on the airline's website, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
