InterCon signs MOC with Amman Labour Ministry

DUBAI, December 8, 2015

InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Ministry of Labour (MOL) and Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), to attract, train and employ Jordanians in the tourism sector.

The MOC was inked at Ya Hala Hall in Al Hussein Youth City by Dr. Nidal Al-Qatameen, the Minister of Labour, Firas Irsheidat, area general manager of IHG Dead Sea Resorts and general manager of Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa, and Issa Murad, ACC Chairman.

Through the second IHG Dead Sea Academy, IHG will provide several training courses to young job seekers between the ages of 18 and 35, who will be selected by MOL in collaboration with non-profit organisations from the local community. The expenses of each 12-month training course will be covered by the group. Upon the conclusion of the training period and in cooperation with MOL, IHG will offer the trainees appropriate employment opportunities at one of the group’s hotels or at any other hotel within the same training field.

“We believe in the importance of rallying both the public and private sectors in order to achieve socio-economic development, and to contribute to the reduction of unemployment among our youth. As such, we decided to sign this memorandum with the Ministry of Labour and the Amman Chamber of Commerce, with whom we share the vision of a qualified and employed workforce, in order to equip Jordanians with the necessary professional training and raise their efficiency. This step will help provide these youth with social protection, in addition to organising the labour market," said Irsheidat. – TradeArabia News Service
