Record 105,000 travellers cross Saudi-Bahrain causeway

MANAMA, October 1, 2015

A record 105,182 people crossed Saudi Arabia-Bahrain’s King Fahad Causeway on Sunday (September 27) – the highest number in one day since it was opened in 1986. It coincided with the return of haj pilgrims from Saudi Arabia, which boosted the number of travellers during the whole week of September 19 to 28 to 514,773. The previous one-day record for the causeway was set on May 2 of this year, when 104,400 travellers crossed between the two countries, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
