Al Toqi's work on display at the Majlis Lobby lounge

Majlis Lobby lounge to showcase budding artists

MUSCAT, September 22, 2015

The Majlis Lobby lounge at City Seasons Muscat in Oman transforms every first Wednesday of the month into a trendy Art Café.

Artists from Oman and abroad, professional photographers, painters, sculptors as well as less known personalities are invited to exhibit their talent over a period of one month.

The opening event is an open house for fans and art aficionados, who will also be given an opportunity to discuss the work with the artist.

The first Art Café event kicked off with an exhibition from Omani photographer Ahmed Al Toqi, who had just been awarded the prestigious National Geographic prize for the best photography in 2015. His winning photo depicted a camel race, the full impact moment with details of the shot being a mix of colours as well as emotions.

The young photographer is currently on exhibition at Majlis Art café until the end of the month.

“We are pleased to serve as a promotional platform for Al Toqi,” said Christian Palacin, general manager of City Seasons Muscat Hotel. As soon as we saw his work and heard about the NG award we understood that there was an opportunity to associate our café with arts and introduce a new concept in Muscat that has been very popular in Europe for the past few years. The idea is to expose new as well as renowned artists to the public in a place of relaxation and leisure where service and nice food combine.”

The Art café is a new initiative in Muscat where young and professional talents will find a place to meet their fans. The exhibition is open daily and offers free entry.

The next artist to exhibit is Mariette Peens. Her work will be on show throughout October with the opening night scheduled for October 7 at 7.00 pm. – TradeArabia News Service
