JEDDAH, August 7, 2015

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has approved two airlines to operate flights from the kingdom’s Al-Jouf airport, according to a report.

Nile Air will operate flights twice a week to Cairo from today (August 7), while AirArabia will start operation four weekly flights to Sharjah from August 20, said the Saudi Gazette report.

The addition of these new international flights comes as part of the strategic plans to attract new carriers to operate in the kingdom, Sulaiman Al-Hamdan, president of GACA, was quoted  as saying.

GACA is working toward transforming airports to make them comply with international specifications. It will also help create new local-international destinations, he said.
