RJ...expanding its operations

RJ to commence Tabuk operations

AMMAN, July 6, 2015

Royal Jordanian (RJ), the national carrier of the country, will commence regular flights from its hub in Amman to Tabuk, northern Saudi Arabia, from July 15.

The latest addition raises the number of destinations in Saudi Arabia to five including Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah, besides Tabuk.

The new route also increases the frequency of flights between Jordan and Saudi Arabia to around 60 weekly: 12 to Riyadh, 28 to Jeddah, 10 to Dammam, seven to Madinah in addition to the two weekly flights to Tabuk, which may increase to more in light of the demand for a larger capacity on this route.

RJ will operate its one-hour service between Amman and Tabuk on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The aircraft will take off from Queen Alia International Airport, Amman, at 18:30 and arrive in Tabuk at 19:30. It will take off from Tabuk at 20:15 and land in Amman at 21:15.

RJ president and CEO Captain Haitham Misto said that launching the new route in Saudi Arabia is part of the new strategy of the airline which focuses at this phase on boosting services and operations in the Middle East and the Arab Gulf; including reaching new destinations and/or increasing frequency to current destinations.

Operations to Tabuk are in response to the growing air transportation between the two kingdoms, which serves Jordanians, Arabs and international citizens working in Tabuk, Misto said.

Saudis living in the north of Saudi Arabia will also be able to visit Amman and travel beyond on the RJ route network or those of the oneworld carriers.

Moreover, citizens of the northern part of Saudi Arabia looking to travel to Jordan for medical treatment will now be able to do so in a comfortable way, he highlighted.

Air access to Amman will spare passengers the trouble of traveling overland, especially during the Hajj and Umrah seasons, when crossing the borders may take longer time due to the very busy traffic, Misto mentioned.

Passengers wishing to fly RJ may book their flights from any of its sales offices through its booking engine at www.rj.com, or contact the RJ call centre at +962 6 5100000. – TradeArabia News Service
