Hospitality issues to be probed at Bahrain event

MANAMA, April 21, 2015

A two-day workshop titled 'Leadership in Hospitality' is being organised next week by Bahrain Institute of Hospitality and Retail (BIHR).

Scheduled for April 27 and 28 at the Domain Hotel in the Diplomatic Area, the workshop will be delivered by Dubai-based Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management industry liaison director and senior lecturer Marianne Saulwick, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Saulwick has almost 20 years of industry experience including founding and managing her own hospitality businesses in Australia.

Meant for junior to mid-level Bahraini executives in the hospitality industry, the workshop will focus on key topics.

These include understanding the basis of leadership and motivation, reviewing leadership roles and models, identifying what it takes to lead teams and organisations, learning how to develop leadership skills and leadership and communication.

Only 50 participants will be accepted for the workshop in order to ensure more focused outcomes.

An international certificate will be awarded to participants on successful completion.

The fee for the workshop is reimbursable through the training levy of the Specific Council for Vocational Training.

HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute Switzerland Bahrain Campus director of operations Nigel Viegas said soft skills are a key area that can often get neglected under the pressures of modern business.

“Leadership is a key soft skill that can be developed and enhanced in order to achieve superior professional performance and that is what we are offering through such programmes.

“This programme is the first of a series of workshops by BIHR, which remains committed to supporting and encouraging ongoing professional development of Bahrainis by creating privileged access to programmes and events,” he added.

BIHR board vice-chairman Hatim Dadabai said the institute is playing a leading role in boosting Bahrainisation in the industry and continues to tailor its programmes to ensure they raise the professional calibre of its Bahraini students to world-class standards. - TradeArabia News Service
