Russia...critical source market for European and North African tourism

Low-cost airlines central to Russia's tourism recovery

MOSCOW, April 7, 2015

Low-cost carriers flying to Russia are vital to the recovery of the country's tourism business and can expect to see a 13 per cent annual increase in the number of Russian passengers over the next four years, a recent study showed.

Euromonitor International Research Analyst Marija Milasevic notes that carriers such as easyJet, Vueling and Wizz, already active in the market, are being joined by new start-up airlines such as Pobeda, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aeroflot which serves the domestic market.

Moreover, the increased presence of international hotel chains such as Marriott, Accor and Hilton are also helping restore inbound numbers and increase domestic options.

The WTM Vision Conference Moscow in Russia today (April 7) provides the platform to highlight the significance of Russian tourists as a critical source market for key European and North African destinations.

The conference, organised in association with Tour Business, takes place at the Golden Ring Hotel. – TradeArabia News Service
