Dubai Airport Terminal 2 capacity up 50pc

Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2 capacity has increased 50 per cent, after recent expansions were completed, a senior official was briefed.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of DP World and chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, was told during his visit to Dubai Customs’ Passenger Operations Department at the terminal, with the goal of getting acquainted with DC in-house innovations for facilitating customs formalities for passengers.
DC’s improvement and development procedures at the terminal, including passengers’ handbag inspection devices, going up from two to five devices, and two devices for screening suspected luggage, to accommodate the growing number of passengers at Terminal 2 were also highlighted.
The number of internal device operators has tripled, from four to 12. The increase in the numbers of devices and operators has leveraged the Terminal’s capacity to handle seven million passengers, said a statement.
The Dubai Customs delegation which included several top officials, attended a presentation of the operational plan, key performance indicators, achievements statistics, main challenges, and development plans conducted by the department in 2014.
Bin Sulayem was also presented with a bundle of suggestions and initiatives that shall be launched soon, which aim at supporting the Airport Terminal 2 employees in carrying out their assigned tasks.
It includes the smart automated passage of handbags, the smart gates in collaboration with Dubai Airports, and the smart inspector. - TradeArabia News Service
