Arjaan by Rotana, Dubai, a leading five-star hotel in the UAE emirate, recently organised a blood donation drive.

The initiative, in collaboration with Latifa Hospital, was a first for the hotel and invitations were extended to colleagues and members of the public, a statement said.

“Giving blood is not only crucial to those in need but also healthy for the donor. For each unit of blood donated, you lose about one-quarter of a gram of iron. So it gets rid of your body’s excess iron as high body iron stores can lead to heart attack,” said Mark McCarthy, general manager. “In previous years, we had also participated in the blood donation drive organised by other Rotana properties but this year we wanted to do something at our property” he said.

Refreshments were provided by Arjaan to each donor, who also enjoyed a wellness check-up including blood pressure, pulse, temperature and iron count, as well as a cholesterol screening, the statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
