Air Seychelles...boosting its presence in the Middle East
Air Seychelles in codeshare with Etihad for Amman route
ABU DHABI, February 4, 2015
Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, has expanded its reach in the Middle East by adding Amman, Jordan, to its codeshare agreement with UAE’s Etihad Airways.
Effective February 5, Air Seychelles will place its HM code on 14 weekly Etihad Airways flights between UAE capital Abu Dhabi and Amman.
This new route is the seventh codeshare point for Air Seychelles in the region, with the carrier already placing its flight code on Etihad’s services to Abu Dhabi (UAE); Jeddah and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia); Muscat (Oman); Bahrain and Kuwait.
Manoj Papa, Air Seychelles chief executive officer, said the codeshare expansion would enhance the airline’s brand visibility in the Middle East and contribute to more leisure and business traffic into Seychelles.
“With this codeshare we are able to offer residents of Jordan an appealing travelling proposition based on convenient, one-stop access to Seychelles via Abu Dhabi.”
“In turn, this will continue to stimulate the number of travellers visiting our archipelago from the Middle East, an important source market that recorded over 20,000 arrivals in 2014,” he said.
“This codeshare is a perfect example of how by working with Etihad Airways we are able to grow our network reach and simultaneously drive more growth in the Seychelles economy through the tourism sector,” Papa said. – TradeArabia News Service
