The new cargo terminal will be built at Abu Dhabi airport.

Etihad invites bids for cargo terminal project

ABU DHABI, September 29, 2014

UAE national airline Etihad Airways has invited expressions of interest (EOI) from consultancy companies to participate in its new cargo terminal project to be built at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The Abu Dhabi-based carrier is seeking technical and engineering consultants, project management and cost consultants for the project which will be located within the East Midfield support zone of the airport.

The terminal, to be built on land leased from Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), will enable Etihad Airways Cargo to handle in excess of 2.5 million tonnes by 2025.

The successful technical and engineering consultant will be required to develop requests for proposal (RFP) and tender the works related to the design-and-build contract and maintain supervisory services during the construction works.

The cost consultant’s scope of work involves delivering a robust cost and investment feasibility plan; developing RFP and works related to the tendering process; overseeing all payment applications and certifying interim certificates, value variations, and agreeing on the final account; issuing monthly reports on budget and costs; and assisting with value engineering costs when necessary.

The successful project management consultant will develop RFP and scope of works necessary to tender the works; implement and manage construction of the project from start to finish within budget and to approved programme and standards; and ensure that the design and construction meet the relevant Estidama Pearl Rating System as issued by Etihad.

The consultants will be required to assess tender bids and make recommendations of the most appropriate consortium based on Etihad’s standard development contract.

Bids are open to firms with experience in relevant projects worth over Dh1 million ($272 million). The deadline for submitting pre-qualification documents is October 15. -TradeArabia News Service
