Qatar airport reports increase in passenger traffic

DOHA, September 17, 2014

Hamad International Airport (HIA), Qatar’s new gateway to the world, has announced an 11.36 per cent increase in passenger traffic in July 2014 compared to the same period last year at the old Doha International Airport (DIA).

HIA saw a total of 2,160,843 travellers depart, transfer and arrive at the airport during July 2014.

Cargo numbers have also increased at HIA with an additional 12.76 per cent traffic in July. All cargo operations are now operating out of the new airport where the facility is fully automated, creating a seamless experience for both the cargo agents and customers.

Badr Al Meer, chief operating officer at HIA, said: “We are happy to see that so many more passengers are choosing to fly to Qatar and through our new, world-class facility. Over the coming months and years we will continue to grow and ensure every passenger has the best possible experience at our airport.”
