Bahrain chamber calls for reviving tourism sector

Advancing the tourism sector will a have positive impact on all other sectors in the kingdom, top officials of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) have said.
The chamber's tourism sector committee chairman Sufyan Khalid Al Moayyad confirmed that the committee's action plan for the current term has been submitted to the chairman, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
During the committee's second meeting, issues of concern were addressed, and the importance of political stability for the prosperity of the sector was highlighted.
The committee concluded its meeting by stressing on attracting a larger stake of tourists and reviving the sector by conducting promotional campaigns in hotels and shopping centres in the country, particularly during the hosting of key events.
The committee chairman presided over the meeting with attendance from Abdulhakim Al Aradi, Khalid Al Rumaihi, A Nabi Al Daylami, Qutub Dadabhai and Abdulhamid Al Hallwachi.
Meanwhile, during a meeting of the Old Markets Committee of the BCCI and the Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry, efforts to upgrade the old markets were reviewed.
The committee called on Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Minister Dr Juma Al Ka'abi at his office to stress the importance of developing and improving Manama and Muharraq suqs, and aligning the efforts of all stakeholders towards upgrading the old markets thereby making them a tourist attraction and a lucrative source of income for the country.
Committee chairman Khalid Al Zayani, Fouad Showaiter, Shaikha Hind Al Khalifa, Khalid Abdulla Almerbati among others were present during the meeting. - TradeArabia News Service
