Bahrain airport gears up for Fifa World Cup

Manama, June 11, 2014

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the managing body and operator of Bahrain International Airport, has installed three large TV screens in the departure concourse of the airport, in preparation for the 2014 Fifa World Cup.

The screens have been set up in three different locations – opposite gate 13 and 16 and the coaching station to allow for easy access and viewing, said a statement.

The World Cup matches will be broadcast at the airport during the period from June 12 to July 13, providing passengers the opportunity to relax and watch the games while waiting to board their flights, it said.

Mohamed Thamir Al Kaabi, vice president of Airport Operations, said: “The entire world is anticipating the 2014 Fifa World Cup and we wanted to make sure we made the games available to our passengers as well.

“The decision to bring the World Cup to the BIA stems from our commitment to continuously enhance the airport’s services and provide a pleasant travel experience for our passengers.”

BAC is the authority responsible for enhancing the Bahrain airport and increasing its contribution to the local economy in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision, said the statement.

In its operational role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s operations, infrastructure and services, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
