Bahrain plans mail museum in culture drive

Bahrain has launched plans to build mail museum in Manama, as part of a project to set up small museums and information centres in historical sites across the kingdom, a senior government official said.

Work on the Khamees Mosque Museum is expected to begin soon, followed by the A'ali Museum and pottery industry development, Arad Fort Information Centre and Modern Art Museum in Manama, Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa was quoted as saying in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

She also announced plans to convert Bab Al Bahrain into a permanent museum to draw local and foreign visitors. A Tourist Information Office is expected to be relocated there.

Drawings for the Barbar Temple Museum have won a global award and another museum is being set up in the historic Sa'ar settlement.

The ministry has also started detailed plans for the Bani Jamra Textile Factory to serve as a tourist destination. – TradeArabia News Service
