Doha’s new airport to open for all flights on May 27
Doha, April 22, 2014
All airlines will operate from Qatar's new Hamad International Airport (HIA) from May 27, a report quoting a circular issued by the country’s Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) said.
Earlier, the QCCA set a soft launch date of April 30 for 10 budget carriers, said the Doha News report.
The new memo states that as of 9 am on May 27 “all airlines shall entirely move to Hamad International Airport”, the report said.
However, a spokeswoman for the HIA steering committee said she could not confirm when the airport would open, the report said.
The $15.5 billion airport was supposed to be completed in 2009, and has missed several opening deadlines since then.
