Emirates joins India Republic Day celebrations

Emirates, a global connector of people and places, joins Indians around the world in celebrating the 65th Republic day of India which will be marked on January 26.
To celebrate the occasion, the Dubai carrier will provide passengers across all Emirates cabins upto 1,600 channels of the latest movies, with a large selection of Indian movies and dedicated TV channels in all Indian languages as well as music section featuring today’s most popular Indian artists.
The inflight experience also includes Indian dining menus offering a different regional menu on each Indian route, said the airline in its statement.
“Since the launch of our first flights to Mumbai and Delhi in 1985, Emirates has been fully committed to the Indian market and has carried over 19 million passengers to its global destinations across the network,” remarked Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, the Emirates divisional senior VP (Commercial Operations – Centre).
“We will work hard to continue providing Indian travellers with the best possible service, to be the airline connector of choice and to hopefully expand our flights to and from India,” he added.
The airline currently employs more than 12,500 Indian nationals in a variety of roles across the Emirates Group, including 69 pilots and 882 Cabin Crew.
Since 1985, Emirates SkyCargo has been supporting the Indian economy, by providing efficient and cost-effective connections to six continents for exports and imports, stated Sheikh Majid.
Recognising the importance of the pharmaceutical industry in India, Emirates was one of the first airlines to offer special cool chain solutions in India which is designed to transport temperature-sensitive commodities such as pharmaceuticals, vaccines and perishable goods, he noted.
Emirates currently serves 10 destinations in India including Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Kolkata, Bangalore and Kochi.-TradeArabia News Service
