Bahrain pavilion at ITB Berlin draws crowds

Manama, March 22, 2012

Bahrain’s pavilion at the prestigious business travel exhibition, ITB Berlin, attracted a large number of visitors, who showed interest in the kingdom's historical and modern landmarks and attractions.

As part of the Ministry of Culture - Tourism Sector’s leading role in showcasing and promoting Bahrain's tourism to the world, Assistant Undersecretary Nada Ahmed Yaseen headed a delegation of partners in the private and public sector to the event, held from March 7 -11.

Partners included Al Safir Hotel, K Hotel, Ritz Hotel and Spa, Tours Master Travel, Mathias Travel and Tourism, Kempinski Hotel and TTN Middle East.

The Tourism Sector's participation in ITB Berlin is one of the many initiatives taken by the ministry to promote Bahrain's tourist attractions at home and abroad. The initiative is in line with its plans to attract more tourists and facilitate the growth of the tourism industry into a vital and sustainable one, in turn contributing to the overall national economy, said a statement.

The Spring of Culture 2012, which showcased top international artists such as Julio Iglesias and Andrea Bocelli and attracted tourists and visitors to Bahrain, was one of the main events highlighted to visitors at ITB.

The upcoming Formula 1 race – taking place from April 20 to 22 for the eighth time in Bahrain – was also highlighted.

Yaseen said: “The success of our participation in ITB is due to the efforts made by our partners and I commend their commitment and willingness to participate in international exhibitions such as this.” – TradeArabia News Service
