Atlantis to host art show for autism centre

Atlantis, The Palm, the leading entertainment destination resort in the Middle East, will host an exhibition for Dutch artists to raise funds for the Dubai Autism Centre (DAC).
The event, to be held on June 1 and 2 at the Spice Ballroom, will be inaugurated by the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Hr. Van Spronsen.
“Atlantis is delighted to host this world class art exhibition that will showcase the work of Dutch artists,” said Serge Zaalof, chief operating officer of Atlantis, The Palm, “The proceeds from the sale of the paintings will be donated to Dubai Autism Centre, an innovative non-profit organization serving children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.”
Wietske Heijkoop , one of the artists and organizers of the show, said: “The Dutch Artists for Dubai Autism is a special exhibition featuring 15 Dutch artists living in the UAE showcasing their art to raise money for the Dubai Autism Centre. Each artist uses different media and has an individual style on the sub-theme: Always Unique Totally Interesting Sometimes Mysterious.”
Hayula Mourad of DAC added “Autism is increasing and statistics indicate that 1 in every 110 children is being diagnosed with Autism; however hope lies in early diagnosis and intervention. Unfortunately lack of awareness, expertise, resources and facilities are the main obstacles to providing the much needed support to children with Autism and their families.”
Mohammad Al Emadi, director general of DAC, said: “I would like to express my gratitude to the organisers of the Dutch Artists for their enthusiasm, thoughtfulness and eagerness to involve the various communities in the Autism cause. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to Atlantis, The Palm for their continuous and outstanding support to the students with Autism and the Centre.
