Starwood to open new Sharjah hotel in 2013

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open its 220-room Four Points by Sheraton Sharjah Hotel in 2013.
Owned by Dr Hassan Ahmad Ibrahim Al Marzouqi, the hotel will be part of a mixed-use office, residential, retail and hotel development located across from the buzzing Central Souk area of the city.
“With the combination of rich culture and tradition, a robust economy and endless sunshine, Sharjah is poised to revive its position as a major travel destination in the region,” stated Roeland Vos, president, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa, Middle East (EAME).
Located on the King Faisal Road in downtown Sharjah, the hotel will comprise 187 rooms and 33 suites, an all-day dining restaurant, fitness centre and outdoor pool, four meeting rooms and a business centre. It will also feature all the hallmarks of the Four Points by Sheraton brand such as the Four Comfort Bed and free wi-fi in public areas.
The architectural and engineering consultants for this mixed use development of which the hotel is part of are QHC - Architects and Engineers, a UAE-based consultancy firm with offices in Sharjah, Dubai and Beirut.
The hotel boasts convenient access to the airport, retail and business hubs of Sharjah.
Starwood currently operates three Four Points by Sheraton hotels in the UAE, all located in Dubai. The company has recently signed an agreement to open its first resort in Sharjah with the Sheraton Sharjah Hotel due to open in 2013.
Starwood currently operates more than 50 hotels in the Middle East under eight of the company’s nine brands including: The Luxury Collection, St. Regis, Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels, Le Méridien, Four Points by Sheraton and Aloft.
Starwood plans to open additional hotels under its Four Points by Sheraton brand in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Syria.-TradeArabia News Service
