Reports of plans to evacuate Filipinos from Bahrain in the wake of ongoing political unrest have been dismissed by the Philippines Embassy.

Philippines Ambassador Corazon Yap-Bahjin confirmed the rumours were false.

'Please be informed that there is no truth to reports circulating in SMS messages that there will be a mass evacuation of Filipinos from Bahrain in connection with the current situation in the kingdom,' she said in a statement issued to all Filipino community organisations.-TradeArabia News Service
