Over 200 to attend VisitBritain event in Dubai

Dubai, March 18, 2010

More than 200 companies and travel industry specialists have signed up for the flagship business-to-business travel trade event, to be organised by VisitBritain in Dubai in May.

Destination Britain & Ireland (Debi) is VisitBritain’s biggest trade event of its kind in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa region (Apmea).

The three day event, being held in association with Tourism Ireland, will showcase the latest travel and tourism offerings from the UK and Ireland.

Debi is an annual one-stop-shop opportunity for key wholesalers and decision-makers in the Apmea travel industry to meet with a wide variety of tourism product suppliers from the UK and Ireland, and will take place from 10 May 10 to 13 at The Grand Hyatt Hotel, said a spokesperson.

The Dubai event will be Debi’s seventh year in the region. Each year, Debi takes place in a different country.

“Holding the event in Dubai is a perfect fit, especially since Dubai is both, a dynamic international business hub, as well as a top tourist destination” said Carol Maddison, UAE marketing manager, VisitBritain.

“Debi has been solidified as a key travel industry event throughout Apmea region, especially as it provides an unsurpassed networking platform for key UK trade partners in the region. This year will see more than 60 UK and Irish tourism products being showcased to buyers from over 17 countries, including Australia, China, Singapore and the UAE.”-TradeArabia News Service
