Maximus backs GCAA aviation safety drive
Abu Dhabi, March 3, 2010
Maximus Air Cargo, the UAE’s largest dedicated cargo aircraft operator, is fully supporting the General Civil Aviation Authority’s drive for safety.
The Abu Dhabi based cargo solutions provider, which is part of Abu Dhabi Aviation Group, is hosting and sponsoring a number of safety-orientated events in the UAE. These will include a meeting of the Gulf Flight Safety Committee (GFSC) at Yas Hotel in Abu Dhabi and being a main sponsor at the World Food Programme’s two-day global safety conference at Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting of the GFSC, which will be held next month, is expected to further step up synergy between key aviation industry players in the region. The GFSC has membership of almost 100 organisations from all over the region and around the world, all of who share an interest in the enhancement of regional air safety.
The March meeting will include an opening address from Fathi Buhazza, president and CEO of Maximus Air Cargo and founder of Care by Air followed by debate and presentations on safety issues in the region. The meeting will also include the launch of a dedicated website which will facilitate communication among the members.
Maximus is also set to be a main sponsor next month in a World Food Programme global safety conference at Emirates Palace Hotel, which is being held in collaboration with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
“There has been much bad press about Ukrainian and Russian aircraft when actually the problem lies not with the aircraft but with substandard operators who fall short of international safety standards. Maximus’s fleet includes an Ilyushin 76TD and an Antonov 124-100, which adhere to the highest standards and have proven invaluable in humanitarian missions for the UAE Red Crescent, Red Cross and the United Nations,” said Fathi Buhazza.-TradeArabia News Service
