Wahooo! waterpark opens in Bahrain
Manama, October 25, 2009
Wahooo!, the Middle East’s first indoor/outdoor high rise, high thrill waterpark, has opened to the public in Bahrain.
The water park is spread over an area of 15,000 sq m and features a number of thrilling rides, including a 230 m masterblaster roller coaster, a four-lane Mat Racer thrill ride and a Wave Rider surfing machine, which creates a 3 m high static.
It also includes a curling breaker, a giant U-shaped Sidewinder ride, lounging areas, a pool to recreate an indoor beach experience, generating waves nearly 1 m high, a huge tipping bucket that dumps thousands of litres of water from above, a serenely Lazy River ride and a multi-level Rain Fortress for children.
Officials would not reveal the project cost, but confirmed that the park's indoor and outdoor atmosphere would be set to 30C throughout the year, using the Middle East's only temperature control technology.
Separated by a wall of glass, both the indoor and outdoor areas will feature a mix of real and artificial sub-tropical plants to enhance the paradise, tropical island theme, centred around a moored schooner.
The water park will also feature prayer rooms, a Wave Pro retail outlet for swimming gear and souvenir merchandise, 10 thrilling rides and two food and beverage outlets.
Tickets for a full day cost BD9.5 for customers who are over 1.2 metres tall and for those less than 1.2 metres in height, tickets are priced at BD6, whereas toddlers below three years-of-age can come in for just BD3.
The waterpark will be open from 10am to 10pm.-TradeArabia News Service
