UK group opens new hotel at Dubai airport

Dubai, September 26, 2009

Premier Inn, the UK's biggest and fastest-growing hotel brand with over 580 hotels, has announced the opening of its new hotel at Dubai International Airport.

Premier Inn, which operates in the GCC under a joint venture with Emirates Airline, said the opening of its third property in Dubai, comes as part of its regional expansion plans.

The hotel brand, which boasts of over 42,000 rooms across the UK and in Ireland, had launched its second property in Dubai Silicon Oasis just a few months back. The group had opened its first 308 bedroom property at Dubai Investments Park in April last year.

The company plans to open more hotels in Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah Umm Al Qawain, Muscat, Doha and Riyadh, said a senior official.

This demonstrates Premier Inn's commitment to being the number one budget hotel brand in the region, said Darroch Crawford, managing director of Premier Inn in the Middle East.

“Opening the hotel property at the airport is a major step for Premier Inn, and although the current economic climate has led to a general slow-down in expansion plans across the hospitality industry, for Premier Inn it is vital for us to continue as we have always planned,' Crawford pointed out.

'The Emirates is a key market for us and pushing forward now can only be beneficial when the market starts its upturn,' he noted.

Premier Inn is fast transforming the region’s value for money hotel market through a unique business model by offering excellent facilities with unrivalled customer service and consistent value for money, even during periods of high demand.

“The long term potential of this region is immense and extremely exciting. We are planning to build on our already established strong foothold in this sector. Premier Inn has a successful formula of providing a hotel service in prominent locations at value for money prices, across its operations,' Crawford stated.

'The new 281-room hotel promises to offer everything one would expect from a Premier Inn. All rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and capable of comfortably accommodating a family of up to four, as well as a roof-top swimming pool and whirlpool bath all for Dh450 ($122.5) per night.'

The hotel also offers a contemporary restaurant (Bedouinns), a bar (The Retreat), and a Costa Coffee outlet.

'This core value proposition will remain our focus. We are confident that there will always be a demand for this type of product, and that our customer base, spread across business and leisure travellers, will continue to increase,' Crawford added.-TradeArabia News Service
