Jazeera starts flights to Red Sea resort
Kuwait City, June 21, 2009
Jazeera Airways has announced the launch of its first non-stop flight to Marsa Alam, the gateway to the Red Sea resort of Port Ghalib, from its hub in Kuwait.
Inaugurating the debut flight on Saturday, Bader Al Mershed, Jazeera vice president, Industry Affairs, said the airline will fly twice a week (on Wednesdays and Saturdays) on the sector, with tickets priced at KD45 ($156) each way.
Al Mershed explained the airline’s choice of the destination, and the fact that the region’s visitors can fly twice a week at flight times that allow passengers to maximise their holiday time.
Marsa Alam airport is a ten minute drive from Port Ghalib, the five star Red Sea resort that welcomes visitors seeking sun, sea and sand, he said at a press conference held at Port Ghalib.
The resort provides visitors with an enormous range of activities based around the sea, from its new award winning marina; its five star international hotels, which boast world class food and a Six Senses Spa at the InterContinental The Palace Hotel, and for the more adventurous, the desert.
“The launch of our non-stop service to the Marsa Alam, the gateway to the Red Sea resort of Port Ghalib, famed for its pristine beaches and coral reefs, means that we are presenting regional travellers with another exciting destination they can escape to for their summer holiday,' he said.
They can go for a long weekend; to enjoy the natural beauty of the country as well as traditional Egyptian food and entertainment in this unspoilt region, he commented.
Al Mershed said, 'Jazeera is the region’s only low-fare airline offering a non-stop service to the resort, so we are excited to be welcoming the region’s new and existing travellers this summer to experience Jazeera.'
It is known as one of the world’s best kept secrets among the diving community and is famous for its coral reefs, dolphins and dugongs, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
