Tickets for the inaugural event at Dubai Sports City’s cricket stadium went on sale today (March 26) for the one-day international (ODI) between Pakistan and Australia.

The sides will open the 25,000 capacity stadium with the first of a five match, ODI series on Wednesday, April 22, with the second game in the series on Friday, April 24.

Following three further ODIs in Abu Dhabi, the teams then return to Dubai Sports City for a one-off Twenty20 match on Thursday, May 7.

“This is a defining moment in the history of Dubai Sports City,” said Macky Dudhia, general manager, sports business, Dubai Sports City (DSC).

“We are very proud to welcome Pakistan and Australia to DSC for the first ever international cricket to be hosted in Dubai.”

“It promises to be a great series between two sides that approach the game with a very positive attitude. We anticipate cricket fans of all nations living in the UAE will want to come and watch two of the most attacking cricket teams competing hard. We will also cater to this wider fan base in what is truly a fantastic stadium,” added Dudhia.

The DSC cricket stadium has been designed to provide a world class setting and is ideally suited to act as a neutral venue for world cricket.

The stadium has the facilities to host test matches, one-day internationals, and Twenty20 tournaments. The stadium is a circular bowl shaped, providing excellent views from every seat in the ground and simultaneously bringing the spectators closer than ever to the action.

Organisers are urging fans to purchase their tickets early, with a sell-out expected for the much-anticipated opening game at the new venue.

DSC’s cricket stadium is the first of four stadiums to be completed, with a 60,000 capacity multi-purpose stadium for football, track and field, and rugby.

There will also be a field hockey stadium capable of holding up to 5,000 spectators, and an indoor arena that will house 10,000 supporters for a wide range of sports including basketball, indoor hockey, volleyball, handball, netball and ice hockey. – TradeArabia News Service
