Oman Air, Tamimah in SMS tieup
Muscat, December 20, 2008
Oman Air, the national carrier of Sultanate of Oman, launched Short Messaging Service (SMS) recently partnering with an Omani company, as part of the Airline’s efforts to enhance customer service through e-commerce.
Hamad Saif AlHarthy, senior manager reservations and global distribution, said this enhancement will narrow the communication bridge between customers and Oman Air and will convey quick messages round-the-clock globally.
Harthy urged customers to provide their contact mobile numbers in all flight booking records with Oman Air to help them reach customers through SMS with updated information.
"This was even more evident during the recent airport blockades in Thailand and had all passengers provided their mobile phone details our information could have been swift and efficient. We are constantly educating travel agents to include passenger mobile phone details."
Initial services include, booking confirmation from waitlist, flight delay/cancellation. The next phase will include reminders before the ticketing time limit expires to avoid cancellation of bookings, he added.
Tamimah Telecom and Computer Technology manager OK Ravi said, “It is a privilege to work with Oman Air as our technology will ensure that the Sultanate’s national carrier will continue to surpass customer expectation with this communication enhancement.”
"Next year Tamimah and Oman Air will roll out their “Pull SMS” function. Customers can send requests for flight schedule, fare details, booking status, pre-reserve a seat and update local contacts through SMS with “real time” information being supplied from Oman Air Reservations," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
