Bahraini in talks to buy top London hotel
Manama, October 6, 2008
One of London's most prestigious hotels, Grosvenor House in Mayfair, could soon find itself under Bahraini ownership, according to reports in the UK.
The five-star hotel is the target of a wealthy Bahraini investor, The Telegraph newspaper said on Sunday.
It said negotiations were underway between the investor - who reportedly owns the nearby Four Seasons Hotel in Park Lane - and current owner The Royal Bank of Scotland.
The bank is reportedly considering a bid of £720 million ($1.26 billion) for the hotel, which is a popular choice among the British royal family and was built in the 1920s on the site of the former London home of the Dukes of Westminster.-TradeArabia News Service
