Dubai, September 1, 2008

The Planetarium at Dubai's Children's City is getting a state-of-the-art three-dimensional Fulldome theatre, making it the first to have this facility in the UAE, said an official.

Makiya Al Hajri, head of the Children's City, which is an exclusive Dh77 million edutainment facility for children, said works have already begun for installing this system it would be completed by the end of next month.

'The new system, which is tailored to suit the Planetarium's needs, is designed to produce a graphically stunning display with high levels of brightness and resolution for all shows to be held at the Planetarium from now on. We have sought the help of the London-based Global Immersion to provide us with the right solution,' said Al Hajri.

'Visiting children would be able to explore the universe and the galaxy in a very exciting way thanks to the new display technology. From now onwards, these shows will be accompanied by live educational workshops that suit the tastes of children in different age groups who are visiting the planetarium,' Al Hajri added.
