Bookings start for Emirates A380 flights

Dubai, January 17, 2008

Emirates airline has started taking bookings for its A380 flights to New York, a report said.

The first of the airline's A380s will join the fleet in August this year, the Gulf News report quoted an Emirates spokeswoman as saying.

Although the first bookings are for Dubai-New York route, Emirates could not confirm if flights to New York's John F. Kennedy (JFK) airport would be the Emirates A380s maiden flight, the report said.

Return economy class tickets have been priced at Dh5,260 while Business and First Class tickets are roughly priced at Dh15,000 and 25,000 respectively - almost the same the airline charges for other flights.

The airline operates three daily flights to New York.

Although Emirates is tightlipped about its A380 routes, analysts predict that JFK, London Heathrow and Sydney would be natural choices due to the increased passenger demand on those routes, the report said. Singapore Airline is the first to operate an A380.

Emirates has 57 A380s on order.
