Sharjah, October 21, 2007

Qanat Al Qasba’s signature landmark, the Eye of the Emirates, the highest observatory wheel in the region attracted over 5,000 visitors during the Eid holidays.

Thanks to QAQ’s gala four-day celebrations of Eid Ul Fitr, the popular entertainment and cultural destination attracted more than 40,000 visitors who enjoyed a memorable festival.

The Eid celebrations which served as a finale to the month-long Ramadaniat Al Qasba programme, Qanat Al Qasba’s annual Ramadan event, attracted large crowds of various nationalities and age groups, said a QAQ official.

Enjoying the traditional Arabic bands, cultural activities, spectacular fireworks and all Eid celebrations, a ride in the Eye of the Emirates remained a highlight for many visitors. On the day of Eid, QAQ recorded one of the highest number of visitors ever to ride the “Eye” on a single day.

“The Eye of the Emirates is one of the most imaginative projects undertaken in the Middle East, consisting of 42 futuristic looking gondolas accommodating up to 336 riders at a time.

“It has been one of Qanat Al Qasba’s chief attractions since the grand opening in April 2005, which we celebrate every year. Special thanks goes to the Eye’s crew for running things smoothly with great crowds during Eid and other special days, which contributes to the landmark’s popularity,” said CEO of Qanat Al Qasba Development Authority Marwan Al Sarkal.

This artistic wheel was specially designed for Qanat Al Qasba in Netherlands supervised by world reputed experts to comply with the internationally accepted standards. Besides creating a dramatic new landmark for the region's skyline, The Eye of the Emirates provides a unique and remarkable vantage for residents and outstanding destination for visitors. – TradeArabia News Service
