Palm Jumeirah marina berths sold out

Dubai, September 5, 2007

IGY, a major developer of luxury marinas, has revealed that it has sold out the berths available in the first phase of release of the Anchor Marina project on The Palm Jumeirah.

“We were significantly oversubscribed for berths in the first phase of Anchor Marina, which demonstrates the potential we identified for quality marine developments here in the Middle East,” said Wayne Lowery, marketing director, IGY Middle East and Asia.

“IGY will build on the success of Anchor Marina and drive the development of Dubai as the next warm water destination for world-class yachting alongside the Caribbean and the Mediterranean,” he said.

With few quality marinas in the region, IGY has capitalised on its international expertise and experience to demonstrate the potential for marina development in the region, he said.

“Quality is at the forefront of all of IGY’s activities and the organisation utilises its design, engineering, management and marketing expertise to design and develop waterfront locations around the world. This experience and quality led to IGY being appointed as the exclusive designer, developer and manager for all of Nakheel’s marina properties,” said Lowery.

Anchor Marina represents one of the most important developments in coordination with Nakheel as it is the first to be built on The Palm Jumeirah. The development of Anchor Marina, which is designed to cater for yachts between 10 and 30 metres in length, is at an advanced stage and is scheduled to open early 2008.

Once completed, Anchor Marina will offer modern infrastructure elements such as spacious concrete pontoons in conjunction with some of the most modern technology available to boat owners, including LED illumination, underwater lighting, wireless internet connections and bespoke concierge services, he said.

IGY will showcase the luxury of Anchor Marina at both the 17th Monaco Yacht Show and Cityscape Dubai 2007.

The Monaco Yacht Show will run from September 19 to 22 at Port Hercules in the Mediterranean Principality and will assist IGY in positioning the Middle East as a core global yachting destination.

The 6th Cityscape Dubai runs from October 16 to 18 and is now considered the most important real estate based networking exhibition in the region and beyond. – TradeArabia News Service
