Iran, Russia sign two deals to expand gas sector

Iran’s Oil Ministry has signed two agreements with Russia’s Gazprom aimed at expanding cooperation in the gas industry and LNG production, a media report said.

The agreements were by Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller in Tehran, reported Iran Daily, citing Irna.

The MoU on carrying the feasibility studies for implementing Iran LNG project, an LNG plant under development at Tombak Port in south Iran was signed between managing director of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Ali Kardor and Miller.

The other document signed between the two countries pertained to Iran’s gas roadmap.

Following the signing of the agreements, Zanganeh said the completion of the Iran LNG project will require $4 billion worth of investments.

He added Gazprom has promised to submit the results of its feasibility studies to the Iranian Oil Ministry within six months.
