South Pars 5 phases to boost Iran gas output

TEHRAN, April 2, 2017

The five phases of the giant South Pars gas field (17, 18, 19, 20 and 21) will boost Iran’s daily gas output by 150 million cu m, Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh was quoted as saying in a Tehran Times report.

It will also add to production and export of gas condensate, LPG and ethane, the report said, citing Irna.

Extracting 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil from the oil layer of South Pars has been also started which is planned to reach 35,000 bpd in the first phase, Zanganeh stated.

South Pars is also estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world’s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate, the report said.
