Centrica renews LNG deal with Qatargas

LONDON, September 6, 2016

UK-based Centrica, a top oil and gas firm, has signed a new deal worth £2 billion ($2.66 billion) to buy LNG from Qatargas, a report said.

Under the new deal, Centrica will  buy up to two million tonnes of LNG each year from January 2019, after its existing contract expires, , added The Telegraph.

"With the decline in North Sea production and the recent growth in global LNG supply, the UK is increasingly becoming an attractive destination for LNG," the report quoted a Centrica statement.
