Iran enlists Italian, Swiss firms to build solar plant

TEHRAN, July 25, 2016

Swiss and Italian companies will build Iran’s biggest solar power plant in North Khorasan Province, with construction beginning in about four weeks, a report said.

The first phase of the project, with a capacity of 30 MW, will be built in an area of 60 hectares to meet the power requirement of Jajarm alumina plant, Alireza Sabouri, managing director of Energy Department of North Khorasan Province, was quoted as saying in the Iran Daily report, which cited moe.gov.ir.

Iranian companies will supply all the equipment of the solar power plant, except inverters and panels, he added.

The foreign contractors will invest €40 million ($43.8 million) in the plant, said Sabouri.
