Egas to rent 500m cu ft gasification ship

CAIRO, May 17, 2016

The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (Egas) plans to rent a gasification ship located in Jordan with a daily capacity of 500 million cu ft of gas, a report said.

Egas will host the ship next year in a private port controlled by Sumed in Ain Sokhna, Egypt, added the Daily News Egypt report.

Egypt has contracted to rent about 200 million cu ft of gas from the full capacity of the gasification ship in Jordan since the end of 2015, the report said, citing a top official at Egas.

He added that Egypt received quantities estimated at approximately 200 million cubic feet of gas daily through the pipeline coming from Jordan to meet summer’s fuel requirements for power plants.

Egas raised imports of gas to about one billion cu ft per day through the two gasification ships at Ain Sokhna port, instead of the 850 million cubic feet in the past week, the report said.
