Advanced EOR tech focus for Muscat summit

Advanced enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technologies will be in spotlight with well-known speakers from the oil and gas industry at the upcoming SPE EOR Conference at Oil and Gas West Asia (OGWA) in Muscat, Oman.
The fifth edition of the SPE EOR Conference at OGWA will take place in Muscat, from March 20–23 under the auspices of The Ministry of Oil and Gas Oman.
An exclusive opening ceremony and welcome reception will be held on March 20 at the Public Authority Civil Aviation (PACA) while the conference will begin from March 21 at the Golden Tulip Hotel.
The opening ceremony will begin with welcome remarks by Saleh bin Ali Al Anboori, 2016 SPE EOR Conference Chairman, director general of Petroleum Investment Management, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Oman and Fareed Abdulla, SPE Middle East Board chairman, senior vice president—NEB, ADCO.
Michelle Boyd, director, Mena and South Asia Events, SPE, said: “This year promises to bring a fresh and engaging agenda which includes a keynote panel session where the advancement of enhanced oil recovery and regional plans to accelerate this will be brought to light by respectable industry leaders.”
The speakers include Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, Minister of Oil and Gas, Sultanate of Oman, Raoul Restucci, managing director, Petroleum Development Oman and Michael Townshend, regional president for Middle East, BP.
The conference chairman, Saleh bin Ali Al Anboori, director general of Management of Petroleum Investment Ministry of Oil and Gas, Oman, said: “At present the dependence and focus on EOR is at an all-time high due to close attention being paid to sustaining the existing oilfields.”
“Over the years the SPE EOR Conference has consistently covered primary topics related to enhanced oil recovery, providing professional perspectives by well-known local, regional and international experts.
“Local EOR projects are at a steady climb, and it is essential to implement efficient and effective technology supported by experts in the field. Relevant topics such as, R&D Technology, Challenges in EOR Projects and Chemical EOR Studies which are part of the conference agenda, are sure to provide valuable insights,” he added.
In conjunction with the conference, the Oil and Gas West Asia (OGWA) exhibition, organised by Omanexpo, will take place from March 21–23 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre with exhibitors showcasing solutions and technology for effective advancements in EOR fields. – TradeArabia News Service
